Can I be a guardian for my loved one?

Nevada Revised Statutes requires the person petitioning for guardianship of an adult to be a resident of the State of Nevada, not been convicted as a felon, and over the age of 18 years.

You have to want to take on the responsibility of serving as a surrogate decision-maker for a compromised adult.

Can I do this petition myself instead of using an attorney?

The State is not set up to allow a non-attorney to petition the court for adult guardianship. The petitioner at this time must secure the services of an attorney preferably one who is well versed in guardianship law.
